Orang Banyak mengatakan kucing itu memiliki 9 nyawa , tapi tidak ada yang serius untuk mengharapkan kucing yang mati datang kembali dari kematian. Namun hal itu berlaku untuk Si kucing yang di beri nama Alfie, mati setelah tertabrak oleh sebuah mobil. Pemilik Angelo Petrillo menguburkannya dan 9 bulan kemudian salah seorang tetangganya melihat si kusing Alfie di pinggir jalan dekat rumahnya.

Inilah Sepasang Kucing Dengan Dua Puluh Empat Cakar [PICT].. Kedua pekerja heran melihat ada sepasang kucing langka di pusat adopsi hewan hari ini ketika mereka menerima sepasang kucing yang mengagumkan dengan enam jari kaki pada setiap kaki.

Kucing biasanya memiliki lima digit pada masing-masing kaki depannya dan empat kaki belakang, yang berarti Puddy dan Baby memiliki 12 jari kaki ekstra di antara mereka. Atau masing masing kelebihan 6 jari kaki.

Para ahli mengatakan meskipun beberapa kelahiran dapat lahir dengan jari tambahan, adalah sangat jarang memiliki digit ekstra pada setiap kaki – terutama di dua anak kucing dari sumber yang sama.

Kucing Sembilan tahun itu diserahkan ke Blue Cross pusat adopsi hewan di Cambridge setelah pemiliknya memiliki penyakit alergi kucing dan tidak bisa lagi merawat mereka.

Rekor dunia untuk kucing dengan jari-jari kaki yang paling banyak adalah Jake Contant dari Ontario, Kanada, yang memiliki 28 jari kaki, dengan tujuh pada masing-masing cakar.

Dia secara resmi diberi gelar Guinness World Records, ketika ia punya digit dihitung oleh dokter hewan di 24 September 2002.

KUCING yang GILA baca BUKU

These purring fur ball has become an internet sensation, in China, after its owner took some pictures of her, reading a book. The cat seemed to be drawn to that pile of books, always trying to get a sneak peak, when her master was reading. Noticing her peculiar behavior, the man took a camera and immortalized the cat’s reading activity.

As you can see, the feline seems focused on reading every Chinese character, but that made her little brain very tired. After every reading session, the cat needed a good nap, to recover, and get back to her book.

Belum lama ini para tentara membuat ulah dengan menjadikan replika Masjid menjadi sasaran target tembak ketika latihan menembak. Hal ini mereka lakukan dengan dalih agar atmosfir perang terutama di Afghanistan lebih mereka jiwai. Namun perbuatan konyol ini menuai protes keras dari seluruh muslim di penjuru dunia.

Tujuh replika masjid yang dibuat untuk target tembak di sebuah kawasn militer di Bellerby, Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire untuk mempersiapkan tentara untuk pertempuran di Afganistan

Inilah sebuah perilaku yang bakal semakin membuat dunia ini menjadi serasa panas dan geram, bagaimana tidak, hal ini bisa menjadikan situasi dunia yang sudah penuh dengan konflik tidak semakin reda bahkan bisa memicu konflik baru yang berujung pada dendam tidak berkesudahan antar anak manusia yang tak berujung.

Bangsa barat yang selama ini mengklaim sebagai bangsa yang paling beradab dan menjunjung tinggi hak asasi manusia ternyata tidak lebih sebagai bangsa primitif yang begitu bodoh untuk memahami sebuah batas antara agama dan manusia. Bisa jadi pihak pihak yang memang punya tujuan mendiskreditkan Islam yang damai menjadi Islam yang menakutkan akan semakin riang gembira.

Mohammed Salim Khan salah seorang tokoh muslim di Inggris melihat hal ini sangat jelas jelas mengacu pada figur bagungan masjid dan bisa menjadikan sebuah kontraproduktif bagi hubungan antar umat beragama yang saat ini tengah dikembangkan.

Tempat latihan menembak dalam rangkaian persiapan perang ke Afghanistan oleh tentara Inggris, kenapa Masjid yang ditembak, adakah upaya pendiskreditan atau menjadikan alambawah sadar para serdadu bahwa tempat ibadah agama Islam ini tidak dihormati

Walaupun pihak Angkatan bersenjata Inggris sudah meminta maaf menyikapi reaksi keras tentang latihan militer ini, namun juru bicara Angkatan Bersenjata tersebut mengatakan tidak ada maksud menyinggung perasaan umat Muslim, namun semata hanya membuat nuansa dan atmosfir serasa di medan pertempuran di Afghanistan.

Apapun alasan mereka seharusnya mereka bisa mengantisipasi hal tersebut yang bisa emicu keresahan umat, karena jelas bahwa apa yang mereka lakukan mengacu pada simbol keagamaan yang merupakan wilayah sensitif untuk dijaga bersama untuk tetap baik hubungan antar umat beragama. Semoga saja semua umat berapaga bisa saling menghargai dan tidak terpancing pada provokasi dan penyesatan.

Platipus adalah hewan semi-akuatik yang banyak ditemui di bagian timur benua Australia. Walaupun Platipus bertelur tapi ia tergolong ke dalam kelas Mammalia karena ia menyusui anaknya. Platipus juga sering dikenal dengan nama duck-billed Platypus atau Platypus berparuh itik disebabkan bentuknya yang menyerupai bebek.

Platipus termasuk binatang yang aneh dari kerajaan Animalia. Binatang ini Mammalia tapi bertelur (mayoritas Mammalia beranak seperti anjing, kucing, beruang, dan sebagainya). Platipus memiliki paruh yang seperti bebek dan kaki berselaput. Seperti halnya kangguru dan koala, platipus menjadi simbol fauna Australia dan dapat ditemui di koin 20 sen Australia.

Temperatur tubuh platipus kira-kira 32oC. Temperatur ini lebih rendah dari kebanyakan Mammalia (sekitar 38oC). Tubuh platipus ditutupi bulu berwarna coklat yang menjaga agar tubuhnya tetap hangat. Kaki platipus berselaput seperti bebek. Platipus juga memiliki paruh seperti bebek. Paruh ini digunakan sebagai organ sensor.

Berat platipus berkisar antara di bawah 1 kg sampai dengan lebih dari 2 kg. Panjang tubuhnya sekitar 30-40 cm dan panjang ekornya sekitar 10-15 cm (jantan) dan 8-13 cm (betina). Platipus jantan lebih besar hingga 3x betinanya. Platipus juga adalah hewan berbisa. Bisa ini digunakan dalam pertarungan perebutan wilayah atau pertempuran antar teman.

Penelitian membuktikan bahwa musik, terutama musik klasik sangat mempengaruhi perkembangan IQ (Intelegent Quotien) dan EQ (Emotional Quotien). Seorang anak yang sejak kecil terbiasa mendengarkan musik akan lebih berkembang kecerdasan emosional dan intelegensinya dibandingkan dengan anak yang jarang mendengarkan musik. Yang dimaksud musik di sini adalah musik yang memiliki irama teratur dan nada-nada yang teratur, bukan nada-nada "miring". Tingkat kedisiplinan anak yang sering mendengarkan musik juga lebih baik dibanding dengan anak yang jarang mendengarkan musik.

Grace Sudargo, seorang musisi dan pendidik mengatakan, "Dasar-dasar musik klasik secara umum berasal dari ritme denyut nadi manusia sehingga ia berperan besar dalam perkembangan otak, pembentukan jiwa, karakter, bahkan raga manusia".

Penelitian menunjukkan, musik klasik yang mengandung komposisi nada berfluktuasi antara nada tinggi dan nada rendah akan merangsang kuadran C pada otak. Sampai usia 4 tahun, kuadran B dan C pada otak anak-anak akan berkembang hingga 80 % dengan musik.

"Musik sangat mempengaruhi kehidupan manusia. Musik memiliki 3 bagian penting yaitu beat, ritme, dan harmony", demikian kata Ev. Andreas Christanday dalam suatu ceramah musik.

"Beat mempengaruhi tubuh, ritme mempengaruhi jiwa, sedangkan harmony mempengaruhi roh". Contoh paling nyata bahwa beat sangat mempengaruhi tubuh adalah dalam konser musik rock.

Bisa dipastikan tidak ada penonton maupun pemain dalam konser musik rock yang tubuhnya tidak bergerak. Semuanya bergoyang dengan dahsyat, bahkan cenderung lepas kontrol.

Kita masih ingat dengan "head banger", suatu gerakan memutar-mutar kepala mengikuti irama music rock yang kencang. Dan tubuh itu mengikutinya seakan tanpa rasa lelah.

Jika hati kita sedang susah, cobalah mendengarkan musik yang indah, yang memiliki irama (ritme) yang teratur. Perasaan kita akan lebih enak dan enteng. Bahkan di luar negeri, pihak rumah sakit banyak memperdengarkan lagu-lagu indah untuk membantu penyembuhan para pasiennya. Itu suatu bukti, bahwa ritme sangat mempengaruhi jiwa manusia. Sedangkan harmony sangat mempengaruhi roh. Jika kita menonton film horor, selalu terdengar harmony (melodi) yang menyayat hati, yang membuat bulu kuduk kita berdiri. Dalam ritual-ritual keagamaan juga banyak digunakan harmony yang membawa roh manusia masuk ke dalam alam penyembahan. Di dalam meditasi, manusia mendengar harmony dari suara-suara alam disekelilingnya. "Musik yang baik bagi kehidupan manusia adalah musik yang seimbang antara beat, ritme, dan harmony", ujar Ev. Andreas Christanday.

Seorang ahli biofisika telah melakukan suatu percobaan tentang pengaruh musik bagi kehidupan makhluk hidup. Dua tanaman dari jenis dan umur yang sama diletakkan pada tempat yang berbeda. Yang satu diletakkan dekat dengan pengeras suara (speaker) yang menyajikan lagu-lagu slow rock dan heavy rock, sedangkan tanaman yang lain diletakkan dekat dengan speaker yang memperdengarkan lagu-lagu yang indah dan berirama teratur. Dalam beberapa hari terjadi perbedaan yang sangat mencolok. Tanaman yang berada di dekat speaker lagu-lagu rock menjadi layu dan mati, sedangkan tanaman yang berada di dekat speaker lagu-lagu indah tumbuh segar dan berbunga. Suatu bukti nyata bahwa musik sangat mempengaruhi kehidupan makhluk hidup.

Alam semesta tercipta dengan musik alam yang sangat indah.

Lambung Bukit Menoreh

Sebagian dari wilayah Kabupaten Kulon Progo, di sebelah utara merupakan dataran berbukit. Di wilayah itu terletak pegunungan atau perbukitan yang disebut bukit Menoreh. Di satu sisi lambung Menoreh itu terletak desa Kepanjen Klangon, termasuk Kecamatan Kalibawang. Sebagaimana kondisi wilayah lain di Kulon Progo, Desa Klangon adalah desa pertanian. Sebagian orang menanam kelapa, kopi atau vanili.

Kehidupan warga desa cukup, sederhana. Dalam kesederhanaan itu justru tertanam atau terpelihara sifat hidup yang luhur, mempertahankan dan memelihara kehormatan dan harga diri. Di desa Klangon itulah tinggal Bapak Agustinus Partohinggeno dan Ibu Monika Partohinggeno. Pada tanggal 16 Desember 1903 Tuhan menganugerahi pasangan Bapak Partohinggeno seorang putra laki-laki, yang merupakan putra ketiga. Putra laki-laki ketiga itu diberi nama SOEKARDJAN.

Soekardjan kecil yang kemudian hari dikenal dengan nama Romo Ambrosius Soekardjan Adikardjono Pr itu masih ingat bagaimana ayahnya mendidik putra putrinya sehari-hari dengan suasana priyayi. Priyayi disini bukan identik dengan feodal. Romo Adi masih ingat bahwa sifat priyayi yang ditanamkan oleh ayah ibunya benar-benar menjadi dasar yang paling luhur dalam pembentukan pribadi putra putrinya. Kehormatan, disiplin, mencari keluhuran hidup dan taat kepada asas kebenaran selalu ditanamkan oleh Bapak Partohinggeno kepada putra putrinya. Sifat priyayi itulah yang mendasari Soekardjan sampai saat ini ketika usianya mencapai 94 tahun, tanpa pernah dilepaskan sekecil apapun.

Menuju Muntilan

Remaja Soekardjan ini menamatkan Sekolah "Ongko Loro" (SD) di Kalibawang. Remaja Soekardjan bertekad melanjutkan ke Muntilan yang pada awal abad 20 menjadi tempat pertama salib Jesus ditancapkan oleh misionaris Sarekat Jesus (SJ), seperti Romo Van Lith dan Romo Van Dries. Tahun berikutnya pewartaan Injil merambah sekitar Muntilan dan kemudian sampailah ke wilayah Kulon Progo dengan pusat penyebaran di Boro dan Sendangsono.

Remaja Soekardjan meninggalkan Klangon tahun 1911 dengan menamatkan sekolah Ongko Loro kelas 3. Di Muntilan, karena prestasi belajar di Sekolah Ongko Loro bagus, Soekardjan langsung diterima kelas 3 HIS. Sekolah HIS diselesaikan dengan lancar dan tamat tahun 1914. Pada saat belajar di Muntilan, Soekardjan berkenalan dengan seorang pastor SJ bernama Van Dries. Romo Van Dries-lah yang membimbing Soekardjan dan akhirnya Romo Van Dries membaptis Soekardjan dengan nama baptis Ambrosius, pada tanggal 24 Desember 1914.

Tuhan Merencanakan Lain

Selepas HIS Ambrosius Soekardjan melanjutkan ke sekolah guru yang disebut Kweek School. Sekolah guru ini diselesaikan pada tahun 1922 dan mulailah pemuda Soekardjan berkarya. Saat itu sesuai adat Soekardjan menambahkan nama "tua" Adikardjono di belakang nama kecilnya sehingga nama lengkap pemuda ini adalah Ambrosius Soekardjan Adikardjono.

Tetapi cita-cita berkarya menjadi guru ternyata tidak berlanjut, karena Tuhan memanggilnya untuk menjadi pekerja di ladang Tuhan, sebagai seorang gembala. Jadilah A.S. Adikardjono memasuki Seminari Muntilan pada tahun 1922 dan tahun 1928 A.S. Adikardjono melanjutkan ke Yogyakarta belajar filsafat sampai tahun 1932.

Menuju Negeri Kincir Angin

Adalah sebuah pasangan suami isteri Belanda bernama H. Peeters Claessens yang tinggal di kota Limburg. Pasangan keluarga Katolik ini hidup cukup bahagia, tetapi tidak dikaruniai anak. Pasangan tersebut bermaksud mengasuh seorang anak dari Jawa untuk belajar ke negeri Belanda. Melalui surat-surat dan foto akhirnya A.S. Adikardjono disetujui diangkat menjadi anak asuh keluarga Peeters Claessens. Pada tahun 1934 calon pastor Adikardjono berangkat ke negeri Belanda. Pada saat itu di negeri Belanda telah banyak calon pastor yang belajar disana, bahkan diantaranya asli Jawa, antara lain calon pastor Martowardojo, calon pastor Pusposuparto. Para calon pastor Indonesia itu belajar di Maastricht. Jumlah calon pastor dari Indonesia sebanyak 16 orang, dan ketika A.S. Adikardjono ditahbiskan ia merupakan pastor Jawa ke 13. Upacara pentahbisan dilakukan pada tanggal 15 Agustus 1937 di Gereja Maatsricht, dipimpin oleh Mgr. Lemmans, Uskup Limburg.

Berkarya di Ladang Tuhan

Setelah Romo A.S. Adikardjono ditahbiskan ia masih harus menyelesaikan pelajaran teologi setahun sehingga baru tahun 1938 Romo Adi kembali ke tanah air. Tugas pertama Romo Adikardjono dilakukan di Ungaran, kemudian dipindahkan ke Semarang dan Yogyakarta, mendidik para calon pastor. Ketika pecah perang Dunia II Romo Adi masih di Kalimantan Barat, saat Jepang menguasai Hindia Belanda, semua orang Belanda termasuk para rohaniwan ditawan dimasukkan ke kamp interniran. Romo Adi sebagai satu-satunya pastor asli (Jawa) tidak termasuk yang ditawan, tetapi terpaksa Romo Adi seorang diri mengurusi umat di Kalimantan Barat sampai perang selesai.

Tahun 1945 Romo Adi mendapat tugas di Jakarta. Kemudian pada tahun 1947 ditugaskan ke Sukabumi yang waktu itu menjadi pusat Prefektura. Di Sukabumi Romo Adi bersama-sama dengan Romo Ismael OFM mendapat tugas dari Pastor N. Geise OFM membenahi kembali sekolah-sekolah Katolik yang telah dirintis dibawah Yayasan Mardi Yuana. Sekolah tersebut selain SD juga SMP dan SGA. Pada tahun 1953 Romo Adi bertugas di Serang dan di kota itu Romo Adi berhasil mendirikan SMA. Tahun 1953-1966 Romo Adi bisa disebut sebagai pastor "keliling": artinya tugasnya berpindah dari kota ke kota, seperti Serang, Cicurug, Sukabumi dan Depok. Baru pada tanggal 20 Maret 1966 Romo Adikardjono ditugaskan secara menetap di lingkungan Paroki Katedral Bogor.

Hidup Adalah Berkarya

Bagi Romo Adikardjono, rupanya hidup berarti berkarya. Karya merupakan salah satu pertanda kemampuan, keunggulan dan kedekatan dengan Illahi-Nya. Oleh karena itu banyak yang dihasilkan dari tangan dan imaji Romo Adi.

Banyak lagu gereja yang semula berbahasa Jawa diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Indonesia. Demikian pula doa-doa yang diucapkan oleh Romo Adi dalam Misa Kudus ataupun acara lain merupakan rangkuman yang penuh makna. Salah satu karya yang sangat agung dan merupakan "master piece" Romo Adi adalah hasil renungan yang dituangkan dalam bentuk lukisa GUNUNGAN yang diberi makna iman Kristiani yang sangat luhur. Uraian tentang GUNUNGAN karya Romo Adi dapat dibaca pada halaman lain dalam buku ini.

Keluarga Seniman

Romo Adikardjono memiliki 10 saudara kandung, yaitu: Ibu Mangkuwiyono, Ibu Partodijoyo, Ibu A. Sujono, Ibu A. Suhardjo, Bapak RAJ Soedjasmin, Ibu A. Hardjono, Ibu D. Adisusanto, Bapak A. Assari, Ibu E. Supardi dan Ibu Y. Sunarto.

Dari sesaudara kandung Romo Adi ternyata banyak memilik bakat musik dan kemudian mereka melahirkan pula seniman-seniman musik. Misalnya saja Bapak RAJ Soedjasmin, adalah seorang perwira tinggi kepolisian yang selain seorang dirigen musik yang sering korps musik dalam upacara kenegaraan, juga seorang pencipta lagu. Salah satu lagunya pernah dijadikan lagu wajib pemilihan Bintang Radio.

Ibu A. Haryono memiliki seorang putra laki-laki bernama Is Haryanto yang kita kenal seorang pemusik dan pencipta lagu, bersama-sama A. Riyanto dan Tetty Kadi. Is Haryanto juga sudah menurunkan bakat musiknya kepada salah seorang putrinya yang sering muncul di TV. Sedangkan Ibu Y. Susanto memiliki putri penyanyi Christine, yang populer pada tahun 1970-an

Tiada Hari Senja

Bagaimana halnya dengan Romo Adikardjono dalam usianya yang kini sudah sangat senja?

Ternyata bagi Romo Adi, dalam hidup beliau tiada hari senja. Dalam usianya yang 94 tahun Romo Adi masih menjalankan tugasnya sebagai seorang pastor, yaitu pemimpin Misa Kudus. Romo Adi biasanya memimpin Misa di kapel Keuskupan, atau di Gereja Katedral atau bahkan di kapel SMKK Baranangsiang. Bagi Romo yang 10 tahun lalu masih bersuara keras bila memimpin Misa atau bernyanyi, tugas sebagai gembala tidak pernah berakhir. Tentu saja sesuai dengan kondisi fisik beliau, kini lebih lembut, dan lebih perlahan-lahan bila berdoa.

Pasrah Dengan Mutlak

Barangkali kita bertanya, bagaimana Romo Adi dapat bertahan dalam kondisi demikian tangguh dalam ysia yang sudah sangat senja. Romo Adi hanya memiliki satu resep saja: pasrah dengan mutlak kepada kekuasaan Tuhan Yang Satu.

Menurut Romo Adi semua hal yang ada di dalam kehidupan ini sudah diatur oleh Bapa Sang Maha Pencipta. Manusia haruslah menyadari hal itu. Tanpa pasrah secara mutlak kepada-Nya, manusia akan mendapatkan berbagai kendala. Oleh karena itu satu-satunya cara untuk sampai kepada kepasrahan mutlak itu tiada lain dengan: sadar akan kekuasaan Tuhan, beriman kepada-Nya, disiplin menjalankan tugas, tidak perlu cemas, tidak perlu ragu-ragu, berjalan seperti apa adanya, bagaikan air mengalir di sungai tanpa halangan. Hidup akan tenang dan biarkan Tuhan berkarya dalam hidup kita sesuai dengan rencana-Nya.

Memandang Gereja Masa Kini

Memandang perkembangan Gereja masa kini terutama di Bogor, Romo Adi merasa gembira, bahagia dan optimis. Bahwa perkembangan Gereja semakin baik, secara fisik maupun spiritual, umat yang semakin bertambah membuat banyak panenannya, dengan bertambah pula para pemanen yaitu pastor-pastor muda angkatan baru.

Memandang Pastor Muda Masa Kini

Romo Adi juga sempat memesankan untuk para pastor muda, bagaimana harus mengabdi secara total sebagai gembala. Faktor utama dan pertama tiada lain adalah kepasrahan secara mutlak kepada kekuasaan Tuhan Yang Esa. Tanpa kepasrahan secara mutlak demikian, akan menjadikan tugas sebagai gembala akan mengalami hambatan. Dengan pasrah total kepada Sang Pencipta, semua akan berjalan dengan tenang dan berhasil.

Nintendo DS (ニンテンドーDS ,Nintendō Dīesu^?, kadang disingkat menjadi DS atau NDS) adalah konsol permainan genggam yang dikembangkan dan diproduksi oleh Nitendo, dirilis pada tahun 2004. Ia mudah dikenali dengan desain lipat horizontalnya, mirip dengan Game Boy , dan adanya dua jenis layar di mana layar bawahnya bekerja sebagai Touch screen ( layar sentuh ,bro..). Sakura Haruno (春野サクラ, Haruno Sakura^?) is a fictional character in the Naruto universe created by Masashi Kishimoto and developed into a media franchise, which consists of a series of manga, anime, soundtracks, OVAs, movies, video games, and other collectibles. Sakura has become the series' female lead, although she was not immediately intended for the role. Kishimoto has had difficulty in drawing her, resulting in Kishimoto inadvertently emphasizing certain parts of her appearance, including her large forehead.^[5]^[6]

In the anime and manga, Sakura is a kunoichi affiliated with the village of Konohagakure, and part of Team 7, which consists of herself, Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and their sensei, Kakashi Hatake. Sakura initially has an infatuation for Sasuke, praising him at every juncture, and heaping scorn upon the less skilled Naruto. Over the course of the series, she begins to shed this singularly driven persona, and grows more appreciative and accepting of Naruto; in Part II, she begins to develop a closer bond with him as they both share in their goal to bring their departed teammate Sasuke back. Sakura has appeared in several pieces of Naruto media, including the four featured films in the series, all of the original video animations, and several video games.

Numerous anime and manga publications have praised and criticized Sakura's character. She was initially noted to be a stereotypical shōnen character, serving as a love interest for the protagonist, and served little purpose in the series initially beyond being comic relief.^[7]^[8] Her emergence from this stereotype as the series progressed, however, has been celebrated by reviewers.^[9] Amongst the Naruto reader base, Sakura has been popular, placing high in several polls. Several pieces of merchandise have been released in Sakura's likeness, including a plush doll and key chains.

Creation and conception

Although Sakura is the most recurring female character in Naruto, Masashi Kishimoto did not originally intend for Sakura to be the heroine of the series. Kishimoto attributes this to his being unable to draw good heroine characters, and fashioned Sakura as a girl who cannot understand men, the best example of a heroine he could come up with. Sakura's creation is a result of Kishimoto's desire to make a somewhat irritating character who was well-intentioned.^[5] Despite these elements, Kishimoto is fond of Sakura, as he feels that many of her personality traits are common among all people, thus giving her a sense of real humanity.^[13]

When designing Sakura, Kishimoto focused on her silhouette and created as simple a costume as possible. This is a divergence from the other main characters of the series, whose costumes are very detailed. The leggings are the most notable aspect of her design, as they are meant to show that she is very active.^[5] At the start of the series, her leggings extended below her knees and closely resembled trousers. As Part I progressed, the leggings become increasingly shorter and tighter.^[14] Similar to his inexperience with drawing heroines, Kishimoto lacked the experience needed to make Sakura "cute" when he first began drawing her. Although he implies that her appearance has become cuter since then, Kishimoto and much of the Naruto manga staff agree that Sakura was "far from cute" at the start of the series.^[13]

Sakura's most well-known physical characteristic is her broad forehead. Because of this, Kishimoto at times focuses too much effort on drawing it in scenes or promotional artwork where Sakura is featured prominently. This results in her forehead appearing too large.^[6]

Sakura's personality is largely built off her relationships with other characters. At the start of the series, her infatuation with her teammate, Sasuke Uchiha, is her most prominent relationship. Because of this, many of Sakura's early appearances are dedicated to her continuing effort to spend time with him and win his affection.^[15] Her interactions with Sasuke soon shift to a recurring concern, both for his well-being and the possibility that he will someday abandon her and the rest of Konohagakure.^[16] When this latter fear eventually comes true at the end of Part I, Sakura does all that she can to stop Sasuke from leaving, such as professing her love for him and offering to join him.^[17] Though her efforts are ineffective at stopping Sasuke and he becomes labeled as a traitor, Sakura is unwilling to think of him as such and readily harms anyone who speaks poorly of him.^[18] While she still worries for his well-being and wishes to bring him home in Part II, it is unknown if she still harbors any romantic feelings for Sasuke. She willingly attacks him during their first reunion in an attempt to bring him back.^[19]

Sakura's relationship with her second teammate, Naruto Uzumaki, is also featured prominently throughout the series. Initially, Sakura views Naruto as a talentless idiot who does all in his power to ruin her life.^[15] As the series progresses and Naruto continually shows his worth as a ninja as well as his dedication to protecting his teammates, Sakura realizes her initial perceptions of him were wrong.^[20] After Sasuke defects from Konoha at the end of Part I, Sakura pleads for Naruto to bring Sasuke back after her own failed attempt to stop him. Despite having a crush on Sakura, Naruto does all in his power to return Sasuke to her.^[21] Although he fails and is left in the hospital afterwards, he vows to someday complete the task she has given him. Realizing the lengths Naruto will go to for her, Sakura spends the two-and-a-half years dividing Part I and II to training, wanting to be of use during his next attempt to retrieve Sasuke.^[22] As she joins Naruto in his searches throughout Part II, Sakura learns of the various hardships he faces: the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox and Akatsuki.^[23] Saddened by the impact both forces have had on his life, Sakura becomes very protective of him and tries to do whatever she can to help him overcome these obstacles.^[24]

Within Sakura resides "Inner Sakura", a manifestation of her inner emotions that, aside from comic relief, represents Sakura's actual opinion on things when she outwardly displays something opposite.^[15] Inner Sakura's appearances are typically marked by an exclamation of "Shānnarō" (しゃーんなろー). The phrase has no literal meaning, but is usually translated as "hell yeah", "hell no", or "damn it" depending on the situation. Instead of "Shānnarō", Viz replaces it with the phrase "Cha!" in the English version. Though Inner Sakura appears quite frequently at the start of the series, her appearances begin to slow dramatically after the Chunin Exam arc; her only two subsequent appearances take place during one of the anime's filler arcs and at the start of Part II.^[25] Inner Sakura's decreasing number of appearances is likely a result of Sakura becoming more comfortable with herself, as she no longer says the opposite of how she actually feels. Sakura, likewise, now performs the emotional outbursts she once relied on Inner Sakura for, much to the dismay of those who are around her at the time.^[26]

For the duration of Part I, Sakura's abilities go largely unseen and undeveloped. While she is shown to be very proficient with basic ninja abilities during the few battles she participates in,^[27] Sakura lacks any unique traits that set her apart from the rest of Team 7. Her teacher, Kakashi Hatake, notes that Sakura has an excellent control over her chakra early in Part I,^[28] but it is not until Part II that she is taught to use this ability to her advantage.

After training under Tsunade for two-and-a-half years, Sakura acquires two abilities that rely directly on her precise chakra control. The first and most common of these two is her ability to heal wounds, giving her the position as her team's medical ninja. Due to the speed and proficiency with which she can heal others, many characters have noted Sakura to be more talented than most medical ninja with far more experience.^[29] Because a ninja team relies on its medical ninja to survive, Sakura must both avoid opponents and keep them at bay during battle.^[30] This is accomplished through Sakura's second ability: her superhuman strength.^[31] By building up chakra in her fists and releasing it on contact with a target, Sakura can reduce most obstacles to rubble.^[32]

Sakura accompanies the rest of Team 7 during all of its early missions, though she does little to contribute to the battles that take place. Instead, Sakura sits on the sidelines, content in allowing her teammates to protect her and defeat their opponents. During the Chunin Exam arc, when the rest of Team 7 is left in need of her protection, Sakura realizes that relying on others to fight her battles has been unwise. Sakura resolves to better her ninja abilities from that point further,^[33] and throughout the rest of the series takes a more active role in Team 7's battles. After Sasuke's defection from Konoha at the end of Part I, Naruto's failure to bring him back, and Sakura's inability to help either, she becomes Tsunade's apprentice so that she can do more to help her teammates in the future.^[22]

Sakura takes a more active role in Part II, as is first seen in her defeat of Akatsuki member Sasori. As a result of her victory, Sakura is given the chance to learn of Sasuke's whereabouts.^[34] Naruto, Sakura, and the new members of Team 7 use this intelligence to track Sasuke down, but they are once again unable to prevent him from escaping.^[35] Though disappointed in their failure, Team 7 tries once again to find Sasuke, and they are currently in the process of following his trail.^[36]

Sakura has made several appearances outside of the Naruto anime and manga. She is in all four of the featured films in the series: in the first movie, she battles Mizore Fuyukuma, and later defeats him;^[37] in the second she helps Naruto and Shikamaru Nara in their battle against Haido and his subordinates;^[38] the third has Sakura battling the hired ninja Karenbana, whom she defeats using her enhanced strength;^[39] and finally in the fourth movie, which is set in Part II, Sakura, Naruto Uzumaki, Rock Lee and Neji Hyuga are assigned to escort the maiden Shion.^[40] She is also present in all three of the original video animations produced for the series, helping Naruto and Konohamaru to find a four leaf clover in the first original video animation,^[41] joining his team in escorting a ninja named Shibuki to his village and helping him fight the missing-nin that stole the village's "Hero's Water" in the second original video animation,^[42] and participating in a tournament in the third original video animation.^[43]

Sakura is a playable character in nearly all Naruto video games, including the Clash of Ninja series and the Ultimate Ninja series.^[44]^[45]^[46] In some games, she uses "Inner Sakura" in combat, as well as numerous different genjutsu. Naruto Shippūden: Gekitou Ninja Taisen EX marks the first appearance of Sakura in her Part II appearance in a video game, with the second one being Naruto Shippūden: Narutimate Accel.^[47]

Sakura has ranked highly in the Shonen Jump popularity polls, continuously placing in the top ten and reaching the top five twice; however, she was ranked twelfth in the most recent poll.^[48] There has not been another poll as of 2006. In an interview, Kate Higgins, who does the voice acting for Sakura in the English dub, notes the development of Sakura in the series, remarking that she becomes a more complex character as she becomes more sensitive and caring.^[49] Numerous pieces of merchandise based on Sakura have been released, including a plush doll,^[10], key chains of her Part I and Part II appearances,^[50]^[11]^[12] and various character patches.^[51]^[52]

Several publications for manga, anime, video games, and other related media have provided praise and criticism on Sakura's character. IGN commented that every anime and manga benefited from a strong female presence that Sakura provided for the Naruto series, although characterizing her as "stereotypically girly."^[53]^[54] In a review of episode 110 in the Sasuke Retrieval arc, IGN celebrated the culmination of the development of Sakura's character throughout the series, and the growing out of the "girly" personality.^[9] GameSpot noted that Sakura's character has largely been used in the series as a form of comic relief, as well as often stating the obvious.^[8] T.H.E.M. Anime Reviews considered Sakura a stereotypical echo of similar love interests of the protagonist in other shōnen manga, and that she was not likeable.^[7]

Creation and conception

When developing the original Naruto manga, Masashi Kishimoto had not initially intended to create Sasuke. After speaking with his editor about the future of the series, he was advised to create a rival character for the series' protagonist, Naruto Uzumaki, resulting in Sasuke's creation.^[5] To learn more about creating an effective rivalry, Kishimoto read a variety of manga to gather ideas on what constituted such a rivalry, and he coalesced these ideal elements into one relationship. Because Sasuke is intended to be Naruto's opposite, Kishimoto is always careful to make sure Sasuke is never too emotional. With Sasuke's character being that of a "cool genius," Kishimoto feels he has created the ideal rivalry.^[13]

Sasuke's design gave Kishimoto a number of problems, making him the most difficult character he had to create. Because he lacked a proper idea of what Sasuke's face should look like, initial drafts of Sasuke appeared too old or mature for a character the same age as Naruto.^[14] Once settling on a proper face, Kishimoto worked on Sasuke's attire. Original designs of Sasuke had a number of necklaces and ties around his arms and legs, a result of Kishimoto's habit of giving characters as much ornamentation as possible. Realizing he could not draw such a complex character on a weekly basis, Kishimoto simplified the design to a basic contrast of Naruto's costume.^[6]

For Kishimoto, Sasuke remains the most difficult character for him to draw. While drawing, errors and mishaps commonly result in Sasuke's youthful appearance being lost, a result of Kishimoto's inexperience in drawing characters mature beyond their years.^[6] Sasuke's hair, originally kept short to save Kishimoto time, has slowly gotten longer as the series has progressed, increasing the amount of time needed to draw Sasuke.^[14] Sasuke received a new costume during the final portion of the Chunin Exam arc, which featured a number of belts strapped around his arms and legs. Due to the time needed to draw a costume of this design, Kishimoto returned Sasuke to his original costume in the following arc.^[15] Despite the time and energy Kishimoto spends drawing Sasuke, Sasuke has become his favorite character to draw.^[6]

Character outline

Background

Sasuke's childhood, as told over the course of Naruto manga volume twenty-five, was spent living in the shadow of his older brother, Itachi Uchiha, whose natural abilities had made him the pride of the Uchiha clan. As a result, Sasuke's family largely ignored him, forcing Sasuke to constantly try to win their recognition. Sasuke, however, was never able to surpass the milestones set in place by his brother, leaving Itachi to be the only one to appreciate Sasuke's efforts.^[16] It was not until Itachi had a falling out with his family that Sasuke began to receive his family's attention, his father in particular taking a keen interest in Sasuke's training. In tandem with finally being able to enjoy his family's company, Sasuke was encouraged to not follow in Itachi's footsteps.^[17]

Upon returning home from ninja school one day, Sasuke found the street littered with the corpses of the Uchiha clan. After running home to alert his family to the tragedy, Sasuke found Itachi standing over their parents' bodies. Realizing Itachi was responsible for the murders, Sasuke ran for safety, only to be stopped by Itachi's proclamation that he would be spared. Sasuke, having always been trying to surpass Itachi, was as a result the only person who could someday prove a match for him.^[18] Wanting to eventually test his abilities with Sasuke's own, Itachi encouraged Sasuke to get stronger by living a life of hate and anger towards him, with the sole purpose in life being to avenge the clan. Itachi left, and Sasuke was left to consider his words in the absence of family. Longing for the love of his parents that he was now denied, Sasuke agreed to live his life as Itachi had instructed, wanting to kill his brother at all costs.^[19]

After his assignment to Team 7 at the start of the series, Sasuke displays an immediate confidence in his abilities. He is as such unwilling to work with his teammates, Naruto Uzumaki or Sakura Haruno, believing their skills to pale in comparison to his own and therefore making them useless if he is to ever kill Itachi.^[20] These perceptions are quickly proven wrong, for despite their failings, Sakura is an excellent source of information and competition with Naruto acts as an effective way to get stronger.^[21] While his confidence in himself is ever-present throughout the series, Sasuke slowly begins to rely on those close to him over the course of Part I. This begins to result in his risking his own life to save those of his friends, even though his death would leave him unable to gain vengeance on Itachi.^[22] He becomes complacent with his life in Konohagakure, satisfied with the speed of his growth as a ninja.

Similar to how Itachi used the slaughter of the Uchiha clan to measure his ability, Sasuke uses his battles with the various characters he meets in Part I to gauge his increase in strength. Through his battles with Haku, Rock Lee, and Gaara, Sasuke is able to test his abilities against those of progressively stronger ninja, discover his weakpoints, and carry away something new from the battle. Once Naruto begins to prove his worth, Sasuke starts to yearn for a battle with him as well.^[23] Naruto, however, gains strength at a much more rapid rate than Sasuke, even learning the Rasengan, an attack stronger than Sasuke's Chidori. This, coupled with Sasuke's quick defeat by Itachi during the Return of Itachi arc, leads Sasuke to believe his growth is slowing. In an attempt to reassess his strength, he begins to treat his friends as opponents so as to test his abilities against their own.^[24]

Dissatisfied with his progress in Konoha and believing Orochimaru holds the keys to getting strong enough to kill Itachi, Sasuke defects from Konoha at the end of Part I.^[25] Naruto, the character Sasuke comes to consider his closest friend, tries to stop him, but Sasuke only tries to kill Naruto, believing his friend's death will grant him the strength needed to kill Itachi.^[19] He is ultimately unable to bring himself to kill Naruto, realizing that is what Itachi would want, and instead continues on to Orochimaru.^[26] In the two-and-a-half years he spends with Orochimaru, Sasuke's goal to kill Itachi takes precedence above all else, such that he is willing to give his body to Orochimaru if it means gaining the strength he needs.^[27] Sasuke also comes to abandon his loyalties to others once they are of no further use to him, turning against Orochimaru after reaching the conclusion that he can learn nothing else of value from him.^[28] While he pays no allegiance to his allies, old or new, in Part II, Sasuke cannot bring himself to harm those he has never met before, and makes it a point to prevent their deaths when possible.^[29]

Sasuke is able to easily grasp most ninja-related abilities. Throughout the series he displays great proficiency with the Uchiha clan's signature fire and weapon-based techniques, surprising his teacher, Kakashi Hatake, during their first training session.^[30] Of the abilities gained through his Uchiha lineage, Sasuke most commonly uses the Sharingan, a unique eye inheritance that grants him a variety of advantages in battle. For the duration of Part I, Sasuke's Sharingan continues to develop, granting him new abilities in the process, such as the ability to pick up and react to fast-moving opponents.^[31] Once fully manifesting itself at the end of Part I, Sasuke is even able to use his Sharingan to predict the movements of others, allowing him to dodge an attack before it is made.^[32] In Part II, Sasuke starts to use his Sharingan to cast genjutsu, illusionary techniques with which he can manipulate and confuse others.^[33] During his later battle with Itachi, Sasuke receives his brother's Mangekyo Sharingan and all of its abilities to help him in his future battles.

Like the Sharingan, Orochimaru's influence is a recurring element of Sasuke's abilities. During their first encounter during the Chunin Exam arc, Sasuke is branded with a cursed seal, which grants him a brief surge in strength and speed when active. Though he is left exhausted after its usage, Sasuke's various uses of the seal cause him to crave more of its power.^[34] As such, Sasuke forces his seal to a second level, drastically changing his appearance when active and giving him a boost in chakra.^[35] Once he begins training under Orochimaru, Sasuke learns to summon snakes, which he can call upon in battle to help attack or defend.^[36] Orochimaru also uses their time together to enhance Sasuke's physical abilities, such that neither Naruto nor Sakura are a match for him during their first re-encounter in Part II.^[37] After absorbing Orochimaru into his body, Sasuke gains access to his unique abilities, such as healing from injuries in short periods of time.^[38] During his battle with Itachi, Orochimaru and the cursed seal are removed from Sasuke's body to free him from Orochimaru's control.

Prior to Sasuke's defection, Kakashi Hatake teaches him how to use the Chidori in an attempt to steer him away from Orochimaru.^[24] The Chidori, a collection of lightning-based chakra in the user's hand, serves as a rapid thrusting attack that severely damages any target. While Sasuke is able to put the Chidori to great use during Part I, his usage of the attack is somewhat limited in Part II. Instead, Sasuke employs variants of the technique, using the fundamentals behind the Chidori to create a number of new abilities. Sasuke's first display of such an ability involves emitting electricity from his body as a shield and then sending it along the blade of his chokutō to increase its cutting potential.^[39] He later proves able to mold electricity into more solid forms such as throwing needles,^[40] and even harnesses natural lightning to create a devastating and unavoidable attack called Kirin (麒麟, Kirin^?). Because of the amount of energy required to create the Chidori, Sasuke can only use it twice per day under his own power for the duration of Part I.^[41] In Part II, a limit on his number of uses for the Chidori or its variants has yet to be seen.

Plot overview

For the first half of Part I, Sasuke accompanies Team 7 in its various endeavors and training sessions. After his encounter with Orochimaru during the Chunin Exams, who begins to manipulate Sasuke into his custody, Sasuke starts to act independently of Naruto and Sakura, pursuing his own opponents and being the only one to train with Kakashi.^[42] After Itachi's brief return to Konoha and his simultaneous defeat by him, Sasuke becomes dissatisfied with what he has learned whilst a member of Team 7.^[24] Believing Orochimaru will be able to give him the strength needed to kill Itachi, Sasuke goes to him, severing his ties with Konoha in the process.^[25] Naruto follows him for the duration of the Sasuke Retrieval arc in an effort to stop him, and the two ultimately do battle. Though he tries to kill Naruto, Sasuke ultimately cannot bring himself to do so, and instead continues on to Orochimaru's hideout, ready to gain strength at any cost.^[26]

After two-and-a-half years Sasuke, satisfied that he has learned all he can from his new master, turns against a weakened Orochimaru before the latter can steal his body.^[28] Though Orochimaru attempts to force a body switch, Sasuke is able to reverse the process, absorbing Orochimaru and allowing him to put his plans of finding Itachi into motion.^[43] Sasuke forms Snake, a team of individuals assembled to aid him in finding Itachi. Once they are able to track Itachi down, Sasuke leaves his team behind and goes to kill his brother.^[44] When Itachi dies after a prolonged battle, Sasuke is collected by the second conspirator of the Uchiha massacre, Madara Uchiha. Madara tells Sasuke of Itachi's reasons for killing the Uchiha and how, having always loved his little brother, Itachi allowed himself to be killed by Sasuke. With his hate for Itachi proven to be an illusion, Sasuke is forced to cope with the fact that Itachi was a good person.

Sasuke has made several appearances outside of the Naruto anime and manga. He appears in all three of the original video animations produced for the series, helping Naruto and Konohamaru to find a four leaf clover in the first original video animation,^[45] joining his team in escorting a ninja named Shibuki to his village and helping him fight the missing-nin that stole the village's "Hero's Water" in the second original video animation,^[46] and participating in a tournament in the third original video animation.^[47] Sasuke also makes an appearance in the first two Naruto featured films, although he is only briefly present in a memory segment in the second.^[48] He is also set to be featured in the second Naruto: Shippūden movie that is slated for release in summer of 2008.^[49]

Sasuke is a common playable character in Naruto video games, including the Clash of Ninja series and the Ultimate Ninja series.^[50]^[51]^[52] In some games, it is possible to unlock and play as a version of him with the cursed seal active. Due to his lack of appearances in early Naruto Shippūden chapters and episodes, he has not appeared in any games based on Naruto Shippūden until Naruto Shippūden: Gekitou Ninja Taisen EX 2,^[53] and his second appearance was in Naruto Shippūden: Narutimate Accel 2.^[54]

Reception

In every official Shonen Jump popularity poll of the series, Sasuke has ranked within the top five characters. Though Sasuke's rank initially alternated between the third and fourth spot, he ranked first in the most recent polls as the most popular character in of the series.^[9]^[10] There has not been another official Shonen Jump popularity poll for the series as of 2006. In an interview, Yuri Lowenthal, who does the voice acting for Sasuke in the English dub, states that he is honored to be playing that role due to the large retinue of voice actors auditioning for the role, and also noted the stress associated with his job due to fans being highly critical of any deviation or mistake made while dubbing.^[55] Several pieces of merchandise have been released in Sasuke's likeness, including plush of his Part I and Part II appearance,^[11]^[56] key chains,^[57]^[58] and numerous figurines.^[59]^[12]

Several publications for manga, anime, video games, and other related media have provided praise and criticism on Sasuke's character. IGN characterized Sasuke as "the resident emo-kid" due to his cold and serious personality, and found it difficult to have a degree of empathy for his character.^[7] GameSpot extolled Sasuke's abilities as "badass," although echoing IGN's comments concerning his personality.^[60] T.H.E.M. Anime Reviews noted that Sasuke fell into the stereotypical "rival" mold of several other shōnen manga, and found him, along with several of the other characters, to not be likable.^[8] Due to the high amount of anticipation from fans concerning Sasuke's animated appearance in Part II, the production staff for Naruto: Shippūden included Sasuke in a sneak-peek of a later episode featuring him before the opening of the first episode of Naruto: Shippūden; his character does not appear for more than fifty chapters after the start of Part II in the manga.^[61] As of March 2008 an official Japanese website about Sasuke has appeared. The website contains a large number of merchandising such as iPods and bicycles with drawings of the character.^[62]

Sasuke Uchiha (うちはサスケ, Uchiha Sasuke^?) is a fictional character in the Naruto universe created by Masashi Kishimoto and developed into a media franchise, consisting of a series of manga, anime, soundtracks, OVAs, movies, video games, and other collectibles. Naruto the Movie 3: Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom (大興奮！　みかづき島のアニマル騒動だってばよ！, Dai Kōfun! Mikazuki Jima no Animaru Panikku Dattebayo!^?, lit. Great Excitement! The Animal Panic of Crescent Moon Island!) is a 2006 film written and directed by Toshiyuki Tsuru. It is the third film based on the popular Naruto anime and manga series by Masashi Kishimoto. It was announced on August 6, 2005 at the opening of Naruto the Movie 2: Legend of the Stone of Gelel. TVTokyo's website states that Great Excitement! The Animal Panic of Crescent Moon Island! was released in DVD format on April 25, 2007 ^[3] The movie takes place after episode 196, during the anime's filler arcs. Footage of this movie is seen in the opening and ending credits for episodes 197 through 199. The film's theme music is "Tsubomi" by MARIA ^[4]

The first 100,000 people to see the movie in certain theaters were to receive a Naruto themed yo-yo. It has a picture of Naruto Uzumaki on it, and when spun it lights up, imitating the appearance of a Rasengan.

The English dub of the movie is set to come out on October 11, 2008.

Naruto Uzumaki, Kakashi Hatake, Sakura Haruno, and Rock Lee are assigned to protect the prince of the Land of the Moon, Michiru, during his world trip; other escorts had been hired, but quit due to being treated poorly. The Land of the Moon is a very wealthy nation, so Michiru tends to buy whatever he wants, and has a very materialistic worldview. His son, Hikaru, also acts in much the same manner, greatly annoying Naruto.

During the trip, the caravan stops at a circus. When Hikaru takes a liking to a rare sabertoothed tiger, Cham, featured there, Michiru ends up purchasing not only it, but the whole circus as well, placing it under the team's protection. Hikaru attempts to befriend the tiger, but finds that it dislikes humans. He loses interest in the circus and during a sea voyage, when a storm hits, he appears unconcerned about the animals' well-being, causing Naruto to become disgusted at his lack of regard for them. Upset by Naruto's view of him, Hikaru goes out to help Cham get to safety, and Naruto saves both of them after they wash overboard. The next day, Naruto and Hikaru become friends.

After returning to the Land of the Moon, the team finds that the country has been taken over by Shabadaba, one of the nobles and a supposed friend of Michiru. Having hired three powerful ninja to assist him, Shabadaba has disposed of the king and plans to do the same with Michiru and Hikaru, the remaining heirs to the throne. He orders the military forces to kill them all, but the team is able to escape with the help of some soldiers still loyal to the king.

Escaping to a hidden cave, Michiru finds that his father is still alive, but Sakura, although able to heal his petrified arm, is only able to keep him alive for a little while. The king revealed that he had suspected that something like this would happen, and arranged for the journey to keep Michiru out of harm's way. Before dying, the king tells Michiru and Hikaru that people are truly important in life, not material goods. During an attempt to escape the country by boat, the three ninja hired by Shabadaba attack, disabling Naruto, Kakashi, Sakura, and Lee with sense-dulling poison that slows their reactions. The prince is captured, but the emergence of Naruto's fox chakra allows him to repel the attacking ninja before the prince's son can be taken.

At the castle, Shabadaba's reasons for taking over the country are revealed to be purely material, the same things Michiru considers important, as he intends to use the nation's wealth for himself rather than the people. Michiru is disgusted by Shadabada's attitude, and realizes the truth of what his father's words. Shabadaba decides to put him to death by a drawn-out hanging: he has Michiru balance on a board of wood not strong enough to support his weight while wearing a noose, ensuring that sooner or later he will fall and be hanged.

With the help of the circus Michiru purchased earlier, Kakashi's team makes a rescue attempt with Hikaru and the rogue soldiers, infiltrating the palace by disguising as members of the circus. One by one, Kakashi and his team fight individual battles: Kakashi fights the many soldiers in the courtyard while each of the Genin fight one of the ninja. Lee wields a pair of nunchucks that have the ability to connect to other staffs hidden in his leg weights, creating weapons such as a long staff and a chain whip. He defeats his opponent after some effort. Sakura is able to dispatch her poison and genjutsu-using opponent by shattering a chandelier to locate her by watching where she moves and subsequently defeat her with one punch.

Naruto fights against Ishidate, the leader of the three ninja, while helping Hikaru reach his father. Hikaru shoots an arrow, severing the rope around Michiru's neck, and Naruto's shadow clones catch the prince and his father. Ishidate is enraged and attempts to kill Naruto, but Shadabada orders him to deal with Michiru. Ishidate then turns on Shadabada, petrifying him. In the penultimate scene, Naruto, his leg disabled by his opponent's strange petrification jutsu, rides on Michiru's back to attack with his Rasengan, which reflects the light of the moon in such a manner that it grows and takes on a crescent shape. He hits Ishidate with this attack, sending him flying and destroying Shadabada's stone remains.

After Ishidate's defeat, Michiru takes the throne of the country and promises to rule as his father did. As Kakashi is immobilized due to overuse of the Sharingan, his team decides to take a vacation in the Moon Country while he recovers, much to their joy.

Akatsuki

The Akatsuki roster as of Naruto manga chapter 317

Akatsuki (暁, Akatsuki^? meaning "Dawn" or "Daybreak") is a criminal organization composed of ten high-level ninja that have defected from their village of origin. The group receives little attention during the first part of the series, only becoming the major antagonists in Part II. Akatsuki members are characterized by their long, dark cloaks bearing red clouds with a chin-high collar. Each also possesses a unique ring, which seems to symbolize one's membership in the organization. Members are partnered together in teams of two, each team sticking together as they traverse the Naruto world. Despite this partnership, members tend to have a strained relationship with their peers, only cooperating enough to complete their assignments and showing little concern when another member is killed. Orochimaru defects from the organization before the start of the series, and thus Akatsuki never exceeds nine members during the current storyline.

Akatsuki was founded by Madara Uchiha after he was expelled from his hometown of Konohagakure. Though initially meant only to mask Madara's movements, Akatsuki eventually began taking part in assassinations and espionage. By the start of the current storyline, Akatsuki's ambitions grow to plans of world domination. To mark this more dynamic goal, Akatsuki increases its activity throughout the series as it attempts to capture the nine powerful tailed beasts. Each member is assigned to capture a specific beast or its current host, at which point Akatsuki convenes to extract the beast and seal it away for their grand plan. As the Akatsuki leader, Pain, explains it, once all nine beasts have been captured Akatsuki will be able to harness their great strength to start world wars at their leisure. With the world powers unable to deal with the beasts' power, Akatsuki will be turned to for salvation, teaching the world the meaninglessness of fighting and giving Akatsuki complete control in the process. As of Naruto manga chapter 354, Akatsuki has captured seven of the beasts, with the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox planned to be the last.

Deidara

Deidara (デイダラ, Deidara^?) is a former ninja of Iwagakure. He acted as a terrorist bomber for hire before being forced to join Akatsuki by Itachi Uchiha. Though he came to embrace the organization, Deidara holds a grudge against Itachi and all Uchiha throughout the series, as he feels they look down on his abilities.^[3] Upon joining Akatsuki he is partnered with Sasori, who Deidara treats as his master due to his artistic expertise. Sasori is replaced by Tobi after his death, and Deidara assumes the master-position as Sasori had before him. By consuming clay with mouths in his hands, Deidara is able to create his own form of art: sculptures that explode with varying intensities.^[4] Deidara's creations can take any form he so chooses, and from the time of their creation to their detonation he can bring them to life and control them remotely. He is very confident in his art's ability, such that he believes it cannot be defeated. When Sasuke Uchiha, Itachi's younger brother, is able to systematically nullify and gain the advantage over his art, Deidara makes himself into a living bomb in an effort to kill Sasuke and prove his art is supreme.^[5] When he speaks, he near-constantly ends his sentences with an audible "hmm?", although it has also been translated as "yeah" and other similar syllables. He is voiced by Katsuhiko Kawamoto in the Japanese anime, and during a brief cameo in its English adaptation he is voiced by Quinton Flynn.

Hidan

Hidan (飛段, Hidan^?) is the partner of Kakuzu and a former ninja of a yet-to-be-identified village. He is a member of the Jashin (ジャシン, Jashin^? lit. "evil god") religion, a religion that worships a deity of the same name and where anything less than death and utter destruction is considered a sin. His religion seems to, in part, extend to his unique abilities; by consuming an opponent's blood and then drawing Jashin's triangular-design on the ground, Hidan can create a voodoo doll-like link with his opponent. Once this link is created, any damage done to Hidan's body is reflected on his opponent, allowing him to kill them by giving himself fatal injuries. Because he is immortal, Hidan is not impaired while doing this, instead finding pleasure in the pain it causes him. After Hidan uses this ability to kill Asuma Sarutobi, Shikamaru Nara fights him to avenge his teacher. Their battle culminates in Hidan being blown up, and Shikamaru buries his still-speaking remains in a place Akatsuki will never be able to reach. As such, Hidan is no longer considered a member by the rest of Akatsuki.

Itachi Uchiha

Itachi Uchiha (うちはイタチ, Uchiha Itachi^?) is a former ninja of Konohagakure and the partner of Kisame Hoshigaki. Though having spent his early youth as the kindly child prodigy of the Uchiha clan, Itachi is treated as a villain for much of the series. He is initially portrayed as being solely responsible for the slaughter of his entire family, sparing only his brother, Sasuke Uchiha, with the explanation that he was testing his abilities.^[6] Around the time of his death his villainous role is downplayed; not only is he revealed to have had help from his master, Madara Uchiha, in killing the clan,^[7] but he performed the massacre under the orders of Konoha's leadership so as to prevent an Uchiha coup d'état. Though he is ordered to kill Sasuke as well, Itachi cannot bring himself to do so, instead forcing Konoha to keep Sasuke safe or risk Itachi going public with his mission. For his part, Itachi accepts his role as a villain, never telling anyone of who else was involved and even encouraging Sasuke to get strong enough to kill him and avenge their family.

Throughout the series Itachi tries to avoid combat, seeking nonviolent discussions instead. If he is forced to battle he usually remains stationary, only acting in self-defense. From his idle position he studies an opponent's movements with his Sharingan eyes, trapping them in illusions when opportune by merely pointing or looking at them.^[8] He is noted to be extremely fast with hand movements, allowing him to attack before an opponent has the chance to respond.^[9]. Itachi at times uses one of the three abilities of his Mangekyo Sharingan, though he tries to avoid doing so as it is taxing on his body and damages his eyesight.^[7] The first, Tsukuyomi (月読, Tsukuyomi^?), allows him to torture opponents for what seems like days in a matter of moments.^[10] Amaterasu (天照, Amaterasu^?), the second, generates black flames at his focal point that will continue to burn until the target is reduced to ash.^[11] The final ability, Susanoo (須佐能乎, Susanoo^?), creates a massive ethereal warrior that fights on Itachi's behalf and shields him from all attacks. Before he dies during his battle with Sasuke, Itachi gives his Mangekyo Sharingan and all of its abilities to him in an effort to keep Sasuke safe and to help him someday kill Madara Uchiha. In the Japanese anime, Itachi is voiced by Hideo Ishikawa.^[12] His first voice actor in the English anime was Skip Stellrecht, who voiced Itachi in episodes twenty-nine and thirty,^[13] but in all following appearances, he has been voiced by Crispin Freeman.^[14]

Kakuzu

Kakuzu (角都, Kakuzu^?) is a former ninja of Takigakure and the partner of Hidan. He has a deep love for money, and uses his membership in Akatsuki as a means to seek out and kill valuable bounties. Because money is the only thing he relies on, Kakuzu dislikes needing to be partnered with someone in Akatsuki. He has killed all of his previous partners in fits of rage, and thus was paired with the immortal Hidan so he wouldn't need to keep finding a replacement. Kakuzu's body is composed of large amounts of black threads, allowing him sew things (such as Hidan's dismembered body parts) back together. The threads are also capable of piercing flesh, which Kakuzu uses to remove the still-beating hearts of his opponents for his personal use. By integrating these healthier organs into his body he can escape death and extend his life indefinitely. Hearts that he is not using are stored in animal masks sewn to his back. The masks can be detached during combat situations to shoot elemental blasts at his opponents, and can quickly be recalled to his body if he needs their heart. Kakuzu's masks are systematically destroyed soon after his introduction by a group of Konohagakure ninja. After Naruto Uzumaki leaves his final heart on the brink of failure, Kakuzu is easily finished off by Kakashi Hatake.

Kisame Hoshigaki

Kisame Hoshigaki (干柿鬼鮫, Hoshigaki Kisame^?) is a former ninja of Kirigakure and the partner of Itachi Uchiha. While most Akatsuki partners are hostile towards each other, Kisame and Itachi get along considerably well; Kisame does as Itachi asks of him unquestioningly and always looks out for Itachi's well-being. While he was still loyal to Kirigakure, Kisame was one of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, a group of ninja that use particularly large swords in battle. His sword, Samehada (鮫肌, Samehada^? lit. "shark skin"), is covered in scales, can absorb untold amounts of an opponent's chakra, and only allows Kisame to wield it. Kisame has a unique appearance, having pale blue skin, a gill-like facial structure, and sharp triangular teeth. These shark-like characteristics extend to his choice of attacks in battle, as he frequently uses water shaped into the forms of sharks to damage opponents. If there is no water nearby, Kisame can quickly produce his own lake to use at his leisure. His seiyū in the Japanese anime is Tomoyuki Dan,^[15] and his English voice actor is Kirk Thornton.^[16]

Konan

Konan (小南, Konan^?) is the partner of the Akatsuki leader, Pain, and the only female ninja in Akatsuki. She was orphaned as a child by one of Amegakure's many wars, forcing her to fend for herself until being found by Jiraiya. Jiraiya trained Konan to take advantage of her natural talent with origami, and as a result paper is a key component in her battle style. Konan can divide her body into countless numbers of paper sheets, which she controls and reshapes remotely to scout out an area or form weapons for attack. She can even form wings that mirror her title as "God's Angel" amongst the villagers of Amegakure, as she often carries out Pain's (who has the title of "God") will. Her abilities are constrained while wet, as paper clings to itself and loses its stiffness.

Madara Uchiha

Madara Uchiha (うちは　マダラ, Uchiha Madara^?) is the founder of Akatsuki and the first possessor of the Mangekyo Sharingan, a rare form of the eye condition unique to the Uchiha. Though it gave him the strength needed to take control of the Uchiha clan, overuse of the Mangekyo Sharingan left him blind, and it was only by taking his own brother's eyes that he was able to regain his sight. Madara eventually banded together with Hashirama Senju to create Konohagakure. The two founders disagreed on who should run their new village and Madara was expelled from Konoha after momentous battle at came to be called the Valley of the End. In later years the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox attacked Konoha, an act Itachi Uchiha states to have been Madara's doing. Once the fox was defeated by Minato Namikaze, Madara infiltrated Konoha in secret, trained Itachi, and subsequently assisted him in assassinating the Uchiha clan.

Much of Madara's role in the series has been under the guise of Tobi (トビ, Tobi^?), who replaces Sasori in Akatsuki after his death. While acting as Tobi he is carefree and goofy as opposed to Madara's usual serious and stereotypically "villainous" self. Tobi's tendency to take credit for other's work and undermine his superiors annoys his partner, Deidara, who either blows up or strangles him in comical fashion as punishment. After Deidara dies during a battle with Sasuke, the only Uchiha to be spared during the massacre, the Tobi persona is discarded as Madara takes a special interest in Sasuke's development, abucting him after Itachi's death. However, Madara has not completely outlived the use of his guise as he temporarily reassumes being Tobi when delaying a group of Konohagakure ninja.

Though Madara's face as it appeared during Konoha's founding has been shown in full at various points in the series, he always wears a mask in the current Naruto storyline. The mask features a swirl pattern focused around his right eye. His black hair (cut back from his earlier years) is the only constantly visible part of his face. When asked how Madara could have survived since Konoha's founding, Itachi Uchiha states that Madara is immortal. The specifics of his immortality have yet to be touched upon, though Madara implies the potency of his chakra has something to do with it. In battle he has been shown capable of making his body intangible, leaving him visible but otherwise impervious to most forms of damage, and can teleport over great distances at will. In the Japanese anime, the Tobi identity is voiced by Wataru Takagi.

Pain

Pain's six bodies

Pain (ペイン, Pein^?) is the leader of Akatsuki and the partner of Konan. "Pain" is not a single person, instead being six entirely different bodies that share the same mind. The only common physical characteristics amongst them are their orange hair color, a number of body piercings, and the Rinnegan (輪廻眼, Rinnegan^? lit. "Samsara Eye"). The Rinnegan, a unique eye condition characterized by a number of concentric circles around the pupil, allows the wielder to utilize any ninja ability. Pain uses it to share visual information amongst all six bodies, giving them the ability to coordinate offense and defense as if they were a single entity. Each body possesses a unique skill; the body with a large ponytail, for example, can summon a wide array of creatures, while the fat body is able to absorb attacks as a form of defense. The six bodies' combined might was enough to singlehandedly overthrow Amegakure's former governmental body, giving Pain control of the village and god-like status amongst the villagers in the process.

When first meeting Pain, Jiraiya assumes the entity to have once been Nagato (長門, Nagato^?), an Amegakure orphan he trained in the past. Though Nagato was the first possessor of the Rinnegan that he encountered and Pain refers to him as sensei, Jiraiya begins to doubt this initial assumption when he sees Pain's six bodies. Realizing that all six bodies once belonged to ninja he encountered when he wandered the Naruto world, Nagato's body not being among them, Jiraiya risks his life to learn the secret of Pain. He succeeds and is able to send his, as yet undisclosed, discovery to Konohagakure, though is killed in the process. The first of Pain's bodies is voiced by Dave Wittenberg during a brief cameo in the English anime.

Sasori

Sasori (サソリ, Sasori^?) is a former ninja of Sunagakure. His parents died when he was young, leaving him in the care of his grandmother, Chiyo. Lacking the love of parents, Sasori left Sunagakure when he got older and joined Akatsuki where he is initially partnered with Orochimaru. After Orochimaru's defection he Sasori teamed with Deidara, who looks to him and his artistic knowledge with reverence. Before leaving Sunagakure, Sasori was taught the art of puppetry by his grandmother, which he refined to fit his needs over the years. He eventually devised a way to convert the corpses of humans into puppets, allowing him to use any of the ninja abilities they possessed during their life for himself. In time he even converted his own body into a puppet, which gives him eternal life and allows him to control hundreds of puppets at once. Each weapon in his puppets' extended arsenal is laced with a poison of Sasori's design that causes extreme pain to the inflicted until they die. Sakura Haruno is able to create an antidote for Sasori's poison, allowing her and Chiyo to fight him uninhibited. They eventually destroy his heart, the only part of his humanity he kept when converting himself to a puppet, resulting in his death. In the Japanese anime Sasori is voiced by Takahiro Sakurai as an adult and Akiko Yajima during flashbacks to his childhood.

Zetsu

Zetsu (ゼツ, Zetsu^?) is the only member of Akatsuki to regularly act without a partner. This is in part a result of his ability to merge with any object and quickly travel to a new location, a feat few other ninja are capable of. Because of this ability Zetsu serves a variety of different positions in Akatsuki, such as a spy that observes and reports on battles of interest or a lookout during Akatsuki's meetings. Being cannibalistic, he is often sent to dispose of bodies Akatsuki does not want found, mirroring the large venus flytrap that envelops his body. Zetsu's body is split into two different colors, his right side being black and his left being white. Similarly, the two sides have their own personalities and knowledge bases, frequently leading to discussions and arguments between the two. The black half speaks in Katakana in the Japanese manga and is voiced by Michael Sorich in the English anime, while the white speaks Kanji and Kana and is voiced by Brian Beacock. Both sides are voiced by Nobuo Tobita in the Japanese anime, with the black half being given a much deeper voice than the white.

Sound Four

The Sound Four (音隠れの忍四人衆, Otogakure no Shinobi Yonin Shū^?, lit. "Hidden Sound Shinobi Four People", English "Sound Ninja Four") are Orochimaru's elite bodyguards. Though briefly introduced during the Invasion of Konoha arc, they do not become antagonists until the later Sasuke Retrieval arc. The Sound Four were once known as the "Sound Five", as they were briefly forced to accept Kimimaro into their ranks due to his superior strength. As a group they specialize in barriers, defensive walls, and sealing techniques, causing Orochimaru to task them with protection-based jobs. Orochimaru has given each member of the group one of his cursed seals, which open their minds to his control, alters their appearance, and greatly increases their strength when active.

Jirobo

Jirobo (次郎坊, Jirōbō^?) was the third member of the Sound Four to be created by Masashi Kishimoto, intended to be the largest character in the group.^[2] Jirobo is the physically strongest member (albeit the least powerful); he can lift boulder-sized rocks and hurl them across long distances with ease. He can also absorb others' chakra, which, after trapping opponents, he uses to his advantage during battle as a form of sustenance. Tayuya frequently calls Jirobo fat due to his size and "eating" habits, and he promptly scolds her for it. Though personally taking offense to being called fat, he calls Choji Akimichi fat near-constantly during their battle. This, among others reasons, goads Choji into using his trump card, giving him superior strength and allowing him to kill Jirobo with ease. His seiyū in the Japanese anime is Kenta Miyake and his English voice actor is Michael Sorich.

Kidomaru

Kidomaru (鬼童丸, Kidōmaru^?) was the first member of the Sound Four to be created by Masashi Kishimoto, his spider-like traits meant to be main aspects of his character.^[2] As such, Kidomaru possesses four extra arms, a third eye, and the ability to excrete webs from his mouth. This webbing, a mixture of body fluids and chakra, is as strong as steel and can ensnare anything that comes into contact with it. He can also produce a golden webbing that hardens upon contact with oxygen, allowing him to make armor or weapons. Kidomaru looks at battles like a game, playing with opponents to watch them squirm. He even refers to Neji Hyuga as a "trash character" who, like all trash characters, will be the first to die. During their battle Kidomaru slowly picks up on a blindspot in Neji's defenses, and proceeds to focus his attacks on that point. Despite successfully striking this blindspot, Neji is able to recover from the attack and kills Kidomaru. His seiyū in the Japanese anime is Susumu Chiba and his English voice actor is Peter Lurie.

Kimimaro

Kimimaro (君麻呂, Kimimaro^?) is the last surviving member of the Kaguya clan (かぐや一族, Kaguya Ichizoku^?). When his war-loving family went off to die in battle, Orochimaru took Kimimaro into his custody so that the Kaguya bloodline would not be completely lost. Because of this, Kimimaro develops the belief that Orochimaru is the only person who cares for him, and as such stops at nothing to ensure his master's ambitions become a reality. His clan's genetic ability, Shikotsumyaku (屍骨脈, Shikotsumyaku^? lit. "Dead Bone Pulse"), allows Kimimaro to manipulate his skeletal structure. He can grow extra bones and have them sprout from any part of his body, which he can then remove to be used as a melee weapon. Kimimaro can strengthen his bones to steel-like quality, making him virtually immune to most types of damage. It is for this reason that Orochimaru selects him as his future host body, though Kimimaro falls ill and is left unable to fulfill this purpose. When Orochimaru is left in need of a new body Kimimaro, ignoring his illness, goes to fetch Sasuke Uchiha for his master's use. He is drawn into battle with Rock Lee and Gaara in the process and, just as he is about to kill them both, dies of his illness. His seiyū in the Japanese anime is Toshiyuki Morikawa and his English voice actor is Keith Silverstein.

Sakon and Ukon

Sakon (左近, Sakon^?) and the older Ukon (右近, Ukon^?) are twin brothers who share positions in the Sound Four. Sakon enjoys toying with his opponents, causing him to waste time in battle by using showy techniques. Conversely, Ukon is impatient and likes to end battles quickly, counteracting his brother's faults. With their genetic ability to merge with others' bodies, Ukon spends much of his time within Sakon's body, only emerging enough to donate the use of his arms and legs to his brother. Though Ukon can move around independently, he isn't accustomed to doing so and tires out quickly. The two brothers can also merge with an opponent's body; while this allows them to do internal damage to the host without incident, whatever physical damage befalls upon the host is also done to them. Sakon was the final member of the Sound Four to be created by Masashi Kishimoto. After deciding to have him fight Kiba Inuzuka and Akamaru in a two-on-two battle, Kishimoto created Ukon to complete the matchup.^[2] Just as the two brothers are about to finish off Kiba and Akamaru, Kankuro arrives to save them and kills Sakon and Ukon. Their seiyū in the Japanese anime is Shunsuke Sakuya and their English voice actor is Brian Beacock.

Tayuya

Tayuya (多由也, Tayuya^?) was the second member of the Sound Four to be created by Masashi Kishimoto, intended to be the only girl in a group of boys.^[2] The only weapon she is equipped with is a flute, and thus she avoids close combat at all costs. With her flute Tayuya can control three demonic beasts that she summons to her side during battle. Though primarily meant to perform the physical attacks she avoids, the beasts can also produce ethereal, snake-like creatures that consume an opponent's chakra. Once weakened in this way, Tayuya can trap them in illusions she creates with her flute. She attempts to use her many long-range techniques against Shikamaru Nara, though his superior intelligence forces her to rely on brute strength to gain victory. Though she almost succeeds, Temari arrives to help Shikamaru and creates a windstorm that crushes and kills Tayuya under a pile of debris. Her seiyū in the Japanese anime is Akeno Watanabe and her English voice actor is Kari Wahlgren.

Snake

The members of Snake

After breaking his ties with Orochimaru, Sasuke Uchiha gathers a four-man group consisting of himself and three of Orochimaru's former subordinates under the name "Snake" (蛇, Hebi^?). All of them have a certain ability that Sasuke requires to locate Itachi Uchiha.^[17] The main purpose of the team, however, has always been to stop anyone from interfering with his fight against Itachi when it actually commenced.

Jugo

Jugo (重吾, Jūgo^?) is the final character to be recruited for Snake. He is mentally unstable, sporadically fluctuating between a bloodthirsty and a docile personality.^[18] While in the former mindset, Jugo kills anyone around him without remorse until he somehow returns to his senses, at which point he seeks confinement or solitude to protect others from himself. It is for this reason that he sought out Orochimaru, hoping that he could find a cure for his impulses.^[19] While examining him, Orochimaru isolated enzymes in Jugo's blood that caused him to radically transform the appearance and capabilities of his body. By extracting these enzymes, Orochimaru was able to reproduce the transformation in his own subordinates. Though Orochimaru's refined transformations are more controllable, his subordinates are limited to using only one form. Jugo is able to alter his transformed state to suit the situation, and can even isolate the transformation to a single part of his body.

Karin

Karin (香燐, Karin^?), a former assistant to Orochimaru during his experimentations, is the second character to be recruited for Snake. Karin has red eyes, matching hair color and an unusual hairstyle; her hair is short and unkempt on one side, and long and combed on the other. She tends to fluctuate between two dynamic personalities, appearing tough and in control when Suigetsu or Jugo are present and highly flirtatious when she is with Sasuke.^[20] Karin has an almost obsessive interest in Sasuke, as she goes so far as to keep one of his battered, sweat-drenched shirts for herself and plans to "ravage" him after the rest of Snake has fallen asleep. Karin's special ability allows her to find and track specific individuals through chakra. She is able to do so over long distances and can even notice subtle changes in an individual's chakra. Kakashi Hatake surmises that Karin is a particularly skilled chakra-sensing ninja, as she is not only able to tell that his eight-man team is approaching her location, but also that one of them is a dog.^[21]

Sasuke Uchiha

Sasuke Uchiha (うちはサスケ, Uchiha Sasuke^?) is originally one of the members of Team 7 and the creator of Snake. He was created by Kishimoto to be a rival to Naruto Uzumaki, as well as a "cool genius," which Kishimoto believed was an integral part of an ideal rivalry.^[22] He is one of the few remaining members of the Uchiha clan, his brother, Itachi Uchiha, having killed the rest of their family.^[23] Because of this, Sasuke's sole desire is to kill his brother, and he develops a cold and withdrawn personality.^[24] Though his interactions with his fellow teammates, especially Naruto, make him focus less on revenge, being defeated by his brother during a brief reunion causes Sasuke to leave the village to seek more power from the criminal Orochimaru.^[25] His teammates' attempts to recover him from Orochimaru form a major component of the plot in Part II of the Naruto storyline. In the Japanese anime, Sasuke's seiyū is Noriaki Sugiyama,^[26] and his English voice actor is Yuri Lowenthal.^[27]

Suigetsu Hozuki

Suigetsu Hozuki (鬼灯　水月, Hōzuki Suigetsu^?), a former test subject of Orochimaru, is the first character to be recruited for Snake. Suigetsu is able to reduce himself to liquid form and return to bodily form at will.^[28] This allows him to change the size of his limbs, proportionally increasing his strength in the process.^[29] It also makes striking him somewhat difficult; since he is made of liquid, any sufficiently powerful strike will go right through his watery form. Sometime before being introduced, Suigetsu trained to be one of Kirigakure's Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, an organization of particularly violent swordsmen. Having been unable to become a member himself, Suigetsu has begun collecting all of the swords of the Seven Swordsmen for himself.^[17] He retrieves Zabuza Momochi's giant Kubikiri Hōchō soon after joining Snake, and hopes to be able to take Kisame Hoshigaki's Samehada by working with Sasuke.

Other

Haku

Haku (白, Haku^?) was orphaned at a young age. His father killed his mother when it was discovered that she possessed a genetic ability, and would have done the same to Haku had he not awakened his latent heritage to kill his father. After wandering from place to place for a time he was found by Zabuza Momochi, who recognized Haku's talents and agreed to take him in as a tool. As a result, Haku becomes unquestioningly protective of and loyal to Zabuza, and only by being useful does he find a purpose in life. He ultimately gives his life in his mission to be useful to Zabuza, becoming a human shield to protect his master from Kakashi Hatake's Lightning Blade. Haku's genetic inheritance, Hyōton (氷遁, Hyōton^? lit. "Ice Release"), allows him to mix wind and water to create ice. He commonly uses this ability to surround an enemy with ice mirrors that he can freely merge with and instantly move between. He then bombards them with needles, and with his superb accuracy he can hit pressure points to put opponents in a death-like state. This reflects his pacifist nature; despite being a ninja and Zabuza's tool of battle, Haku dislikes fighting and does all that he can to keep opponents out of harm's way. His seiyū in the Japanese anime is Mayumi Asano and his English voice actor is Susan Dalian.

Kabuto Yakushi

Kabuto Yakushi (薬師カブト, Yakushi Kabuto^?) is Orochimaru's personal medic, assistant, and general right-hand man. He was found as a child on a battlefield by a medical officer from Konoha, who took Kabuto home with him and raised him as a son. In time Kabuto began acting as a spy for numerous countries and organizations (such as Akatsuki) before coming under the servitude of Orochimaru. Kabuto has since used his various former affiliations as a means to gather intelligence on Orochimaru's behalf, such as entering the Chunin Exams as a Konoha ninja to gather information on his fellow participants for Orochimaru's use. Though he appears to be very loyal to Orochimaru, he is not above healing Orochimaru's enemies or trying to strike up polite (if somewhat degrading) conversations with Naruto Uzumaki when they meet. Orochimaru himself seems to have a hard time determining Kabuto's thoughts, and has suggested that Kabuto secretly works against him.

Kabuto's talents as a ninja have on many occasions been compared to Kakashi Hatake. His medical expertise, taught to him by his adoptive father, is even remarked to surpass that of Tsunade when she was his age. His medicinal talents have risen to new heights in his allegiance to Orochimaru, and through his human experimentations he has learned how to reactivate dead cells in a concentrated area and grow new ones. Aside from the practical function of quickly recovering from wounds in battle, it also allows Kabuto to keep his test subjects alive for much longer than is feasible. Despite his talents, Kabuto has always served others, a fate he is dissatisfied with. As such, after Orochimaru is apparently killed, Kabuto integrates his master's remains into his body as a means to become more powerful and to no longer be the mere tool of others. The remains have since begun to take over his body, and he is in constant competition with them to retain control. His seiyū in the Japanese anime is Nobutoshi Canna and his English voice actor is Henry Dittman.

Orochimaru

Orochimaru (大蛇丸, Orochimaru^?) is one of the primary antagonists of the Naruto series. To emphasize his role as a villain, Kishimoto worked towards making him appear "pasty and sickly," part of his theme of distinguishing villains from the protagonists.^[30] In the series, Orochimaru is a former ninja of Konohagakure and a student of the Third Hokage.^[31] During his time in the village, he distinguished himself as one of the village's most powerful ninja along with his teammates, Jiraiya and Tsunade.^[32] His desire to obtain immortality led to him to conduct experiments on other Konohagakure ninja, and after fleeing the village, he joined the criminal organization Akatsuki.^[33] After leaving Akatsuki due to an incident with Itachi Uchiha, he founded his own ninja village, Otogakure, in the hope of destroying his former home.^[34] His immortality technique involves transferring his consciousness between different host bodies, and his desire for a new host, particularly Sasuke Uchiha, is one of his driving motivations throughout the series.^[35] Due to his different host bodies and the disguises he assumes, a panoply of voice actors are utilized for Orochimaru; however, his most common seiyū in the Japanese anime is Kujira,^[36] and the corresponding English voice actor is Steven Jay Blum.^[37]

Zabuza Momochi

Zabuza Momochi (桃地　再不斬, Momochi Zabuza^?) is the first antagonist to be introduced in Naruto. He was once one of Kirigakure's Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, a group of ninja that use particularly large swords in battle. Zabuza's sword is the giant Kubikiri Hōchō (首斬り包丁, Kubikiri Hōchō^? lit. Decapitating Knife). After a failed coup d'état wherein he tried to assassinate Kirigakure's leadership, Zabuza and his followers fled the village and began working as mercenary assassins. Like most Kirigakure ninja, Zabuza is skilled in water-based abilities. His area of expertise, however, is in assassinations; by blanketing an area in mist, Zabuza can blind an opponent, locate them by the sounds they make, and kill them without their ever noticing his presence. His talents lead to him being hired to kill Tazuna, a job he is never able to finish due to interference by Tazuna's bodyguard, Kakashi Hatake. Because he takes to long to complete the task his contract is revoked, and his employer tries to have Zabuza killed. Zabuza kills him first, though is heavily injured in the process and dies soon afterwards. His seiyū in the Japanese anime is Unshō Ishizuka and his English voice actor is Steven Blum.

Naruto Uzumaki (うずまきナルト, Uzumaki Naruto^?) is a fictional character in the Naruto universe created by Masashi Kishimoto as the main protagonist for the series and developed into other media. While creating Naruto, Kishimoto kept in mind to keep the character "simple and stupid" while giving him many attributes of Son Goku from the Dragon Ball franchise.^[5]

In the series, Naruto is a ninja affiliated with the fictional village of Konohagakure, and has ambitions of becoming Hokage, or the leader of the village. Due to being the host for the nine-tailed demon fox, a malevolent creature that attacked Konohagakure, he is ostracized by the other villagers. He compensates for this with his cheerful and boisterous personality, and over the course of the series, manages to befriend several other Konohagakure ninja, as well as ninja from other villages. He obtains an especially close relationship with Sasuke Uchiha, one of his fellow ninja in Team 7, and treats him as his brother. Naruto appears in all of the series' films, as well as in other media related to the franchise, including video games and OVAs.

Several anime and manga publications have expressed acclaim and criticism of Naruto's character. While many reviewers consider him one of the most memorable anime and manga characters in history, he has been viewed as a stereotypical manga and anime protagonist comparable to many other protagonists in other shōnen manga.^[6]^[7] Nevertheless, Naruto has remained highly popular with the Naruto reader base, placing high in several popularity polls.^[8] Merchandise based on Naruto has also been released, including figurines and plush dolls

This is a list of characters of the Naruto anime and manga series created by Masashi Kishimoto. The series takes place in a fictional universe, where different countries vie for power through using ninja, who can utilize supernatural abilities in combat. The Naruto storyline is divided into two parts, simply named Part I and Part II, with the latter taking place two and a half years after the conclusion of Part I. The series' storyline follows a group of young ninja from the village of Konohagakure as they develop and progress as ninja in skill and character.

The titular character of the series is Naruto Uzumaki, an energetic ninja of Konohagakure who wishes to become Hokage, or the leader of Konohagakure. During the early part of the series, he is assigned to Team 7, in which he meets Sasuke Uchiha, a taciturn and highly skilled "genius" of the Uchiha clan; Sakura Haruno, whom is infatuated with Sasuke yet has Naruto's affection; and Kakashi Hatake, the quiet and mysterious leader of the team. Over the course of the series, Naruto interacts with and befriends several of his fellow ninja in Konohagakure, and from other villages. He also encounters the series' antagonists, including Orochimaru, a former ninja of Konohagakure scheming to destroy his former home, and the elite ninja of the criminal organization Akatsuki.

While developing the series, Kishimoto initially created the three primary characters as a base for the designs of the other three-man teams in the series.^[1] He also utilized characters in other shōnen manga as references in his design of the characters, a decision that was criticized by several anime and manga publications.^[2]^[3] Despite this, the characters were praised for incorporating many of the better aspects of previous shōnen characters, although many publications lamented the perceived lack of growing out of such stereotypes.^[4]^[5] The visual presentation of the characters was commented on by reviewers, with praise and criticism given to Kishimoto's work in the manga and the anime adaptation

Digimon 02

A new generation of DigiDestined, composed of three new children, as well as Kari and T.K. from the original Adventure series, are given a new kind of Digivice known as D3, which allows them to open a gate to be transported to the Digital World through any computer. Another advantage was Armor Digivolution, using a device called a Digi-Egg/Digimental (not related to the Digi-Egg that defines the earliest life stage of a Digimon) so their Digimon can evolve in the presence of Control Spires. They eventually stop the Digimon Emperor, Ken Ichijouji, thanks to the sacrifice of Wormmon, Ken's partner.

After his defeat, Ken repents his evil deeds and joins the Digi-Destined as they fight an evil Digimon named Arukenimon and her lackey Mummymon. Arukenimon has a unique power to turn the Control Spires into super-strong, artificial Digimon in her control. To fight this new threat, the gang learns of DNA Digivolution, enabling their Digimon to fuse with each other in pairs for more power. Eventually, when the battle was brought to the Real World, the true mastermind, Yukio Oikawa, makes himself known. This man extracts the Dark Spore inside Ken and implants it into other children who wish for the greatness the old, evil Ken had. Those spores develop into flowers that harvest the infected children's energy. Eventually, the Digi-Destined confront Oikawa, only to learn he's an extreme loner whose only friend in the world was Hiroki Hida, Cody's father. Hiroki and Oikawa used to play old video games when they were young, eventually becoming obsessed with the Digital World and dreaming of going there one day, but Hiroki dies before they could go together, causing Owikawa great sadness. In the end, an entity springs from this man's body, none other than the real mastermind, Myotismon from the first Adventure season, now reborn as MaloMyotismon.

Unlike Adventure, which was set in the Digital World except for a temporary return to the Real World, Adventure 02 characters shuttle back and forth between the two worlds almost every episode.

This season ended with the help of DigiDestined from all over the world, using the light that existed inside each one of them and their wishes to return the Digital World into a peaceful world again. Oikawa, who is too weak to enter the Digital World, becomes its guardian as he passes away. After peace is restored, the boundary between the Digital and the Real World is broken down, giving every human their very own Digimon companion.

Taichi "Tai" Kamiya (Yagami Taichi): He was the leader of the previous DigiDestined and Kari's big brother. He attends high school. He gave Davis his goggles to replace Davis' pair, which was wrecked in a battle.

Yamato "Matt" Ishida (Ishida Yamato): T.K.'s big brother, he attends high school. He has his own band, the Teenage Wolves. Davis's sister had a not so secret crush for him.

Sora Takenouchi (Takenouchi Sora): Attending high school and joined the tennis team.

Koushiro "Izzy" Izumi (Izumi Koushiro): Very smart and a logical thinker, he helps the new team more than the others of the old group.

MaloMyotismon (BelialVamdemon) (48-50): Myotismon's most powerful form. The main villain behind the events of the series (not counting Daemon). Killed by Imperialdramon Fighter Mode.
- Yukio Oikawa (38-50): Possessed by Myotismon. After Myotismon left him he died and restored the Digital World with his spirit.
  - Arukenimon (Arachnemon) (24-48): One of Oikawa's henchmen. Killed by MaloMyotismon.

- Devimon (19-21): Disincoporated torso present in the dark whirlpool, was used by the Digimon Emperor to complete Kimeramon. The essence of Devimon leased Kimeramon from the Emperor's control, and the former was supposedly destroyed for good upon the latter's destruction.

Wendigomon (Wendimon) (1st Movie): Corrupted partner of Willis. Changed into Antylamon (Antiramon) and then into Cherubimon. Defeated and purified by Magnamon and Rapidmon.

BlackWarGreymon (30-37, 46-47): Created by Arukenimon but refused to obey orders. BlackWarGreymon would later become good after battling WarGreymon and Imperialdramon Fighter Mode. Was fatally injured by the Myotismon-possessed Oikawa, but sealed the Highton View Terrace gate with his final breath.

Daemon (Demon) (43-45): Wanted the Dark Spore in Ken. They trapped him in the World of Darkness.

These characters were introduced in this season:

Jun [joon] Motomiya: Davis's older sister. She and Davis argue repeatedly but are still close. She also chases after Matt through most of the first half of the second season, trying to get a date with him. After she finally realizes that he doesn't like her, she quickly forms a crush on Jim.

Momoe, Chizuru, Mantarou: Yolei's siblings, two sisters and one brother. Because there are four of them in one family, they have to fight for attention.

Hiroki Hida: Cody's deceased father. As a child, he was best friends with Yukio Oikawa, and the two contacted the Digital World through video games, promising themselves they would one day visit it together. Before that was to be, however, Hiroki married, had Cody and became a police officer, eventually killed in the line of duty by Gunshot when Cody was 4 Years old, Hiroki said to Cody to be Brave and Died.

Chikara Hida: Cody's grandfather. Concerned for his son's well-being, he forbade Hiroki to contact the Digital World and spend time with Oikawa. In the present, he is Cody's sensei in kendo, and his father figure. Eventually, he realizes his error in trying to break up the friendship between Oikawa and Hiroki, and attempts to reach out to him and set things right for Cody.

Kotomi Hida: ^[1] Cody's mother.Who is also very concerned with Cody's constant absence when he's in the Digital-World.

Sam Ichijouji (Osamu): Ken's deceased older brother. When Ken was little, Sam was a Grade A student and got most of the attention. One day, Ken wished he would go away because he was jealous. That same day Sam was hit by a car and died.

Haruhiko Takenouchi: Sora's father, a folklore college professor who was at Kyoto during the summer of 1999. Learning of the adventure his daughter went through, Haruhiko began to research the Digital World with Jim, Joe's brother, who is one of his students. Yolei met both of them during her class trip to Kyoto, and Haruhiko explained some of his theories to her.

Jim Kido (Shin and Shuu):^[2] Joe's brother, a college student at Kyoto. He met Yolei when she is visiting Kyoto with her class. He also drove her and the others to where they needed to be when Daemon was attacking on Christmas day.

Note: With the exception of Cody's family, and T.K. and Kari's parents, no parents of the Digimon Adventure 02 DigiDestined were named.

Main article: Digimon Adventure#Digital World

In this series of Digimon it is revealed that this iteration of the Digital World also runs parallel with two other "dimensions" - One, a kaleidoscopic world of colour and shape, composed of an energy that is capable of turning thought into reality, while the other is a dark and foreboding world of evil, characterized by its grim, expansive ocean called the World of Darkness, theorized to be capable of bringing beings' dark thoughts to life. Three years after the events in Digimon Adventure, Yukio Oikawa, a human who had learned of the Digital World when he was a boy, made attempts to enter the Digital World to live out his unfulfilled childhood dreams. Unbeknownst to him, he was possessed by the spirit of Myotismon, who was manipulating his actions. Oikawa created Arukenimon and Mummymon and sent them into the Digital World, where they manipulated the young Ken Ichijouji into becoming the Digimon Emperor. As the Emperor, Ken set up his Control Spires - the design of which had come from the enigmatic World of Darkness and had apparently been implanted in Ken's head by someone, possibly Oikawa, or by the Dark Spore already within Ken - all around the Digital World. The Spire disrupted the fabric of reality, creating spatial warps and weakening the dimensional boundaries. Oikawa hoped he could use this disruption to enter the Digital World, but the actions of the new DigiDestined who were destroying the Control Spires prevented this from happening. Next, Arukenimon and Mummymon created BlackWarGreymon, who set about destroying the powerful Destiny Stones, which completely threw the balance of the Digital World out of order. However, the DigiDestined were able to free Azulongmon from the prison the Dark Masters had put him in years before, and he stopped BlackWarGreymon from destroying the last stone.

Oikawa's final scheme to enter the Digital World was a grand one. Arukenimon opened all the Digi-Ports, allowing wild Digimon to come to Earth as a decoy and the DigiDestined had to travel all over the world to round them up. While they were gone from Japan, Arukenimon and Mummymon began kidnapping children. When the DigiDestined returned, they discovered that Daemon and his henchmen MarineDevimon, LadyDevimon, and SkullSatamon had come to Earth in search of Ken and the Dark Spore within him, but Oikawa managed to copy the Spore first, before Daemon could get his hands on him. Daemon was repelled into the World of Darkness as Oikawa implanted the Spores into the kidnapped children. His hope was for the Spores to convert the children’s innocence (which lets them enter the Digital World by using this energy) so that he could use to traverse the dimensional barrier. However, Myotismon had other plans, and brought Oikawa to another dimension which was a world of dreams and nightmares where he existed his hosts body and began to absorb the powers of the Spores into himself and became MaloMyotismon. After MaloMyotismon's defeat, Oikawa used the dream dimension to fulfill his own desire. His body was transformed into energy in the form of a flock of butterflies, which spread across the Digital World, restoring peace and harmony.

The ending reveals each of the character's fates when they get together so their children can play tag together:

T.K: T.K is a novelist chronicling their adventures in the digital world. He tells about their adventures and has one son.

Tai: Tai and Agumon became diplomats on relations between the real and digital world. He has a son who's partner digimon is Koromon. It's also revealed that Tai has cut his hair.

Matt and Sora: Matt has decided not to further his music career and instead become an astronaut. He and Gabumon made it all the way to Mars. Sora and Biyomon are fashion designers, and Biyomon saying that their new fashion line is just to die for. They have a daughter who's partner is Yokomon and a son who's partner is Tsunomon.

Joe: Joe has become a doctor of the Digital World. Joe has a son.

Mimi: Mimi and Palmon have their own special cooking show. It's the only time Mimi ever takes off her hat. Mimi has a son who's partner is Tanemon.

Izzy: Izzy and Tentamon are researchers of the Digital World. Izzy and his daughter speak their own strange language.

Kari: Kari has fulfilled her dream of becoming a kindergarten teachers with Gatomon. Kari has one son who has a whistle around his neck like Kari.

Yolei and Ken: Yolei and Ken are married and have three kids. Yolei is still panicky like always and is a homemaker. Ken is a detective but can't seem to figure out when it's his turn to do the dishes.

Cody: Cody is a lawyer defendant. He has bought about 100 suitcases because Armadillomon keeps sitting on them. Cody has a daughter.

Davis: Davis has started his own line of noodle carts called "Noodles, Noodles Come Get Your Noodles" cart and was huge success. He has one son.

Digimon: The Movie, released in the US and Canada territory by Fox Kids in October 2000, consists of the union of the first three Japanese movies (first two parts from Digimon Adventure, the third part from Adventure 02). Those stories are based in the universe introduced in the first two seasons of the TV series.

[edit] Digimon Hurricane Touchdown/Supreme Evolution! The Golden Digimentals

The last story involves the next generation of DigiDestined children after they travel from Japan to the U.S.A. and meet up with Willis, helping him to stop the menace of an enigmatic threat. As a kid, Willis was given two twin Digimon, a Gummymon and a Kokomon. But one day Kokomon mysteriously disappeared without a trace, returning later as the ruthless Wendigomon (it is later revealed that he was kidnapped and corrupted by a rogue viral program). T.K. and Kari are the first ones to encounter Wendigomon in New York City while they are visiting Mimi; he kidnaps Mimi (she disappears before T.K. and Kari's eyes along with the rest of the older DigiDestined and all were placed in another dimension where they were being de-aged by Wendigomon). Willis eventually explains his connection to Wendigomon and that Wendigomon wants to see Willis again, which was why the Digimon kidnapped the older DigiDestined -- because they, like him, have Digivices.

But when Willis refused to go with Wendigomon after it swiped Terriermon away, the monster evolved to Antylamon, and then Cherubimon, de-aging Willis and the younger DigiDestined as well. Willis figured out that his Digimon's urge for things to go back to the way there were literally meant to make Willis a kid again. In this battle, Kari and T.K. gave Willis and Davis the Golden Digi-Eggs, transforming Veemon into Magnamon and Terriermon into a Golden-Armored Rapidmon. After the battle was over, Cherubimon was defeated and the older DigiDestined reappeared at the points were they had disappeared from. In the end, Willis discovered that his Digimon is still alive after the fight, ready to be reborn from a Digi-Egg.It ends as wendigomon and rapidmon dancing together.

Trivia: This film was the longest movie Toei Animation has created in Japan. The running time was about 70 mins (the rest of the movies were between 20-50 mins).

The American compilation of this and the two previous movies claims that Willis 'created' Diaboromon in an attempt to create a continuous storyline; in reality, the third movie is not even considered canon to the show's plotline. The compilation also cuts the de-aging of the older children and battles from the third movie in order to shorten the film. Also for the dubbed version of the third movie all the images that were shown of the older DigiDestined at the beginning of the dubbed film were actually what they were doing when they disappeared.

[edit] Diaboromon Strikes Back

Also known as Revenge of Diaboromon. In this movie that takes place a year after MaloMyotismon's defeat, the DigiDestined go up against Diaboromon again. Tai and Matt head back to the Internet to deal with him with Omnimon, while the younger DigiDestined go to deal with the rampage of a swarm of Kuramon (Diaboromon's Fresh form). With the help of Angemon and Angewomon (with T.K. and Kari), Omnimon was able to destroy Diaboromon again, but it turned out to be a trap, as his destruction allowed many more Kuramon to go to the Real World. Things go out of control when the Kuramon in the Real World merge to create a Mega level called Armageddemon, an alternate Mega in Diaboromon's evolutionary line. It is so powerful that neither Omnimon nor Imperialdramon were able to defeat it on their own. In the end, Omnimon gives his energy to Imperialdramon Fighter Mode, powering him up to Paladin Mode. Using his Omega Blade attack, Imperialdramon is able to strike down Armageddemon, splitting him back up into the Kuramon. With the help of the energy from the DigiDestined Digivices and the cell phones from the other kids of Japan, the Omega Blade is powered up, allowing all of the Kuramon to be destroyed for good.

[edit] Digimon Adventure 02: Original story, Summer 2003

This audio drama^[3] takes place sometime after the events in Digimon Adventure 02, but before the 25 years later epilogue. The audio drama fills in several plot holes pertaining to the series, and also explores some of the changes that the DigiDestined and their Partners went through that helped lead to the epilogue.

In Davis' track, Goggles, Davis reflects on the goggles given to him to by Tai, what they symbolize, and what makes a good leader.^[4]

In T.K's track, As I Type on the Keyboard, T.K. has started to write about his adventures in the Digital World and expresses his feelings on some of them, as well as being a DigiDestined in general.^[5] It is later stated that memorandum Takeru had begun writing was delayed in publishing until he was able to write it objectively.^[6]

In Cody's track, A Visit to the Grave, Cody takes Armadillomon to visit his father's grave. They talk about the sacrifices that Oikawa and the others have made. Cody makes a promise to start trying to understand why evil tries to take over certain people, and to try and prevent it in the future.^[7]

In Yolei's track, I've Become a Middle-Schooler, Yolei talks about her life in transition to becoming a middle-schooler, her attempts to form a musical band, her growing feelings for Ken, and her new obsession with black tea.^[8]

In Ken's track, Spring Sunlight, Ken reminisces about his brother, the mistakes of his past, and how happy and thankful he is now.^[9]

In Kari's track, Hikari's Introductory Course to Partners, Kari has begun a video recording for a class teaching new DigiDestined how to behave and act as good Partners to their Digimon. She also talks about some of her experiences with Gatomon and the Digital World. Near the end of the track, we find out that Davis's sister, Jun, Cody's Grandfather, along with both of Yolei's older sisters, as well as Joe's older brother, have all recently become DigiDestined and require assistance in the Digital World. Kari and the others then set out to help the new ones on their adventures.^[10] It is later stated that Hikari's video later turned out to be "surprisingly useful."^[6]

[edit] Michi e no Armor Shinka

Takes place on Valentine's Day, 2003. The audio drama^[11] starts with Davis trying to change his image so girls will like him by imitating various Digidestined. Kari, Mimi, and Sora are kidnapped by Boltmon who just wants a heart. Pukumon had taken advantage of this in order to destroy the DigiDestined. Ken's Pucchiemon reasons with Boltmon, and the kids subsequently fight the mastermind, Pukumon. Joe knocks into them, and they drop and mix up their D-Terminals. This causes them to use the wrong Digieggs and Digivolve into new Armor Digimon, who beat Pukumon. Overall, the story serves not only to provide light humor. Also, this drama marks the first time that the Digidestined are able to use their Digi-Eggs interchangeably, and transform their Digimon into new Armored Digivolutions using each other's eggs.

The title of the audio drama means "The Road to Armor Evolution".

[edit] Natsu e no Tobira

Taking place in the summer of 2003,^[12] Davis and DemiVeemon meet up with Mimi, Willis, and Gummymon in New York City. However, without warning, the entire city falls under a strange winter and becomes deserted. The kids hear a voice and see fireflies before meeting a nameless girl, whom Davis names "Nat-chan" from the Japanese word for "summer". Nat-chan displays feelings for Davis, but the group does not know that she is really a giant clawed Digimon, who makes her transformation by using the "fireflies", which are revealed to be data chips, which have corrupted her data. Davis realises Nat-chan was lonely and just wanted a Digidestined partner. Unfortunately, Nat-chan dies and comes back as a Digitama, but luckily, Davis and the others take it upon themselves to help find Nat-chan's true Partner.

Willis and Mimi indicate that the sudden winter was created from Davis' heart, which was unhappy after losing the district soccer competition and his unrequited love for Kari.

The name of this audio drama means "The Door to Summer", meaning the portal back to their own world, and recalled by Mimi from what appears to be the book The Door into Summer during the drama.
